Coeliac Disease and the Pharmacy

This twelve-page colour booklet contains information about coeliac disease, its complications and associated conditions. It outlines the pharmacists' role at prediagnosis, diagnosis, post diagnosis and treatment stages. It also includes a chart of foods that are allowed, and those that should be avoided and provides a list of contacts for further information and advice.

Coeliac Forum Bulletin

This newsletter for pharmacists covers issues in the area of coeliac disease and associated conditions. It includes information on Glutafin products and patient literature as well as a section with information on healthcare professional resources provided by the Coeliac Disease Resource Centre.

Patient Resources

Glutafin has produced a number of useful resources to use with patients who have coeliac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis.

 

Living with Coeliac Disease and Diabetes

This booklet has specifically put together for people with both conditions. This features general background information on coeliac disease and diabetes for patients to refer to and this is backed up with information on a gluten-free diet, healthy lifestyle and cooking tips. 

The booklet explains the use of the glycaemic index when choosing gluten-free options and patients can also find information on what care to expect if you have the two conditions along with helpline numbers. In addition a number of sweet and savoury recipes, including such delights as Lemon and Raisin Drop Scones and Chicken and Watercress Pasta stir-fry, have been included to assist patients in cooking healthily.

 

Healthy, Happy and Gluten free

Glutafin has produced a guide to enjoying a healthy, gluten-free diet. The booklet guides patients through how to achieve a healthy, well-balanced and gluten-free diet, provides information on portion sizes as well as healthy meal and snack ideas. The guide also has a section on 'Understanding food labelling'.

 

The Coeliac Condition and Osteoporosis

This leaflet explains what osteoporosis is, who is at risk and ways to protect against developing it. The leaflet also looks at different ways of achieveing an adequate calcium intake whilst following a gluten-free diet.

 

Gluten-Free 'Eat Well Plate' Materials

The CDRC has produced an A3-sized poster depicting a gluten-free 'Eat Well' plate model. It is the ideal size to have on the clinic consultation room wall for use with patients during their dietetic appointment. Smaller versions are also available for patients to take away with them. The materials have been reproduced with kind permission of the Food Standards Agency.
